New alignment for Hutto

The 2010 district schedule will look different for the Hippos. Gone are state champion Lake Travis along with Dripping Springs, Marble Falls and Lampasas.

Hutto will now be apart of district 16 in its second go round as a Class 4A school. Joining the Hippos will be Bastrop, Bryan Rudder, Elgin, Manor and Pflugerville Connally. Pflugerville Hendrickson moves to the district with Hutto, the only team Hutto has faced in district play as a Class 4A squad.

“A lot of [coaches] thought we’d be with the Cedar Park schools,” Hutto head baseball coach Pete Schmidt said. “We were kind of surprised, but there is no use worring about any of it because we never know how it is actually going to turn out.”

Manor and Elgin jump over to district 16 from Class 4A district 17. The other three schools joining Hutto and Hendrickson - Bastrop, Connally and Rudder - are new to Class 4A. Bastrop and Connally come over from Class 5A district 25, while Rudder makes the jump to Class 4A from Class 3A district 24 in its first year with seniors.
