Hutto High School’s new head boys basketball coach will work as a full-time physical education teacher at the high school and will not serve as assistant principal at Farley Middle School as previously reported.
Gant Caraway, who last year served as an assistant principal at Hutto Middle School, will replace outgoing coach Cody Blake, who was recruited to coach basketball in the Round Rock school district.
Hutto Independent School District Superintendent David Borrer said Hutto High School is gaining a great asset in Caraway.
“He has a basketball resume that’s very impressive,” he said.
The Hutto News had previously reported that Caraway would be serving as assistant principal at soon-to-open Farley Middle School. While Caraway was originally slotted to fill that position, school administrators felt that his role as basketball coach at the high school would make it preferable for him to work full-time at that campus. To that end, Caraway will be teaching P.E. at HHS.
Replacing him as vice principal at Farley will be Sabrina Mathis, formerly principal of Nadine Johnson Elementary School.
Tammy Jordan will replace Mathis as principal at Nadine Johnson. Jordan was previously an assistant principal at Hutto Elementary.
