Hutto man indicted

Williamson County’s grand jury indicted a Hutto man May 7 on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after he reportedly threatened to kill himself and two individuals, including a child, with a handgun.

Police arrested Joseph Steven Williams, 39, April 21 after a victim called Hutto police and reported that Williams had repeatedly punched, pulled hair and refused to let the victim leave, according to his arrest affidavit.

Williams told police he did not point the handgun at the victim, according to the affidavit.

Police observed injuries to the victim’s face and neck consistent with the victim’s report.

Police took Williams to Williamson County Jail, and he was released two days later. The victim has since filed a restraining order against Williams.

Williams faces the possibility of two to 20 years in prison as well as a $10,000 fine for the charges against him if convicted.
