Letter to the Editor

Orange Santa a success

Dear editor: Thank you so much to everyone who contributed to the city's Orange Santa program this year. Without the Olde Tyme Christmas event, donations were slow to come in until many Chamber members and others answered the call for help.

More than 25 families and 70 children were assisted this holiday through the Orange Santa program. Special thanks to Hutto Police Officer Suzanne Glass and Hutto High School teacher Dana Allaman for coordinating the program, and to the Hutto Police Department, Hutto High School and the Hutto Fire Department for collecting donations and helping to distribute the gifts.

With your help, toys and gifts streamed into city hall and organizers raised more than $3,000 to spend on additional items. About 20 volunteers assisted with wrapping gifts on Saturday and Hutto Firefighters Tom Hines and Nick Perkins helped Glass and others deliver the presents to the families on Sunday.

Members of our community once again have shown their generous and caring spirit. Thank you.

Happy Holidays, Elizabeth Page, Hutto Chamber of Commerce
